About Sylvie Abdoo
From a young age, I’ve navigated the world with moderate hearing loss. As a child, I often felt lost in conversations, struggling to keep up with the nuances of speech. Rhetorical questions and subtle shifts in tone were difficult for me to grasp.
I made this difference my greatest strength. I developed resilience, grit, and empathy. I learned to ‘read between the lines’, observing body language, facial expressions, and context. I learned to love the written word where nothing could be lost in translation.
My love of learning, led to my achieving ten A*s in my GCSES, three A*s in my A-levels and a first-class honours from Edinburgh University. I also hold a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate and a Special Educational Needs diploma. I will soon graduate as a fully qualified teacher.
I’ve learned that perseverance pays off; that any physical, emotional, or societal barrier can be overcome with the right support system. That is what my personalised English tuition aims to provide for your child.
